Hire accountants, GST and compliance staff
Built for CA firms, tax practitioners, consultancies and businesses that need people for books, GST, TDS and ROC filings. Good candidates read a clear opening in a minute and know at once whether to apply. This page shows how to write one, and what to ask once people do.
Write the opening so the right people apply
- Name the work in plain words: GST return filing, purchase and sales reconciliation, TDS returns, ROC annual filings, bookkeeping.
- Name the tools: Tally Prime, Zoho Books, Excel, the GST portal. People search for these exact words.
- Say how much work there is: how many clients or entities, and how many returns a month.
- Say if freshers are welcome and who will train them. Articleship or paid-assistant roles are popular first jobs.
- Show the pay range and the city or whether the work is remote. Openings that hide both get fewer good replies.
Ask for proof of work, not only a resume
- Use the short questions on the application form, for example: How many GST returns have you filed on your own? Which software did you use? Have you handled a notice or a reconciliation mismatch?
- Set a must-have for the one thing the job cannot do without, such as Tally experience, and let the form filter the rest.
- Give a 30-minute task in the interview: a small purchase register to reconcile, or a sample invoice with a mistake to find.
Check the person, not the certificate alone
- Ask the candidate to explain a return they filed, step by step. People who did the work can describe it.
- Ask what they do when a client sends documents late. The right answer protects the client from penalties and never guesses figures.
- Check references from the last firm. In a small field, people know each other.
Reply to every applicant
Candidates on RegisCareers can see how often each employer replies. A short “not this time” is enough, and it protects your name for the next opening.
